Along the River

Stumbling through the darkness of dusk, illuminated only when I reached the gap in the forest’s denseness, I watch the full moon rise over Lolo Pass, bisecting the Bitterroot Mountains bridging more than Montana and Idaho, more than the Pacific and Mountain time zones, and more than merely day two and day three of my travels.

At this geographic juncture, I stumbled into a love affair with the Lewis and Clark Expedition and a four-year introduction into what would become an epic work of fiction, imbued with the details of history, the excitement of discovery, and the exploration of the American West.

And soon the tale begins…
